A Ukrainian drone strike has killed at least five people and injured 10 others after hitting a warehouse near Moscow, Russian authorities said on Tuesday.
Moscow region Governor Andrei Vorobyov said the overnight attack struck an industrial site in Novoselki, Chekhov, about 69 kilometres south of the Kremlin, prompting a fire at a warehouse. Vorobyov said seven of the injured were in moderate condition, while one person was seriously hurt.
Although Russian officials did not identify the target, Ukrainian media reported that the site was linked to Wildberries, Russia’s largest online retailer.
Kyiv has repeatedly claimed the company’s warehouses are used to support the Russian military, an allegation Moscow denies.
Local authorities also reported overnight strikes on Wildberries warehouses in Russia’s St Petersburg and Tver regions. The company confirmed its St Petersburg facility was hit but did not comment on the Moscow attack.
Russia’s Defence Ministry said it intercepted and destroyed 320 Ukrainian drones during the overnight attacks.
Meanwhile, Russia launched new strikes on Ukraine, killing at least one person and injuring several others. Ukraine’s State Emergency Service said an 89-year-old woman was killed in the southern city of Mykolaiv, while two girls aged two and 12 were among seven people injured.
Officials also reported that two people were injured in Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi, while a Russian strike set a food warehouse on fire in Dnipro.
