Netanyahu: Israel Didn’t Agree to US Gaza Plan

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Tuesday that Israel did not agree to a United States-backed plan for Gaza, despite receiving assurances that Israeli forces would withdraw only after Hamas disarms.

In a video posted on social media, Netanyahu said US President Donald Trump’s team believes it can secure the disarmament of Hamas and the demilitarisation of Gaza.

He said Israel was reviewing a draft proposal from the US administration but had not accepted it and had submitted its own comments.

“US President Donald Trump believes that they can bring about the disarmament of Hamas and the demilitarisation of Gaza. We are checking this. They sent us a draft — we did not agree to it, it is not our draft. We sent our comments.”

Netanyahu met with the US-backed Board of Peace on Monday and received assurances that Israeli forces would not be required to withdraw from their current positions in Gaza until Hamas had been disarmed.

However, pressure has intensified on Netanyahu from far-right members of his governing coalition, who are urging him to reject the proposed agreement.
