The Oyo State Police Command has recovered a vehicle stolen in Ibadan and arrested a 21-year-old suspect in Gombe State following an intelligence-led operation.
The command’s spokesperson, Ayanlade Olayinka, said the vehicle, which was reported stolen on July 29, was recovered after investigators tracked it to Gombe, leading to the arrest of Daniel Chinada Obidiukwu on August 3.
According to the police, the suspect was found in possession of the vehicle during the operation.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Obidiukwu allegedly stole the vehicle in Ibadan before driving it to Gombe State with plans to sell it to an unsuspecting buyer.
Following his arrest, the vehicle was recovered and taken into police custody as an exhibit.
The suspect remains in custody while investigators continue efforts to identify possible accomplices and determine the full circumstances surrounding the alleged theft. He will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Abimbola Ayodeji Olugbenga, commended the officers involved for their professionalism and investigative efforts, reaffirming the command’s commitment to pursuing criminal suspects wherever they may be found.
He also assured residents that the command would continue to deploy intelligence-led policing and collaborate with other state commands to safeguard lives and property.
The commissioner urged members of the public to support law enforcement by providing timely and credible information that could aid crime prevention and the arrest of criminal suspects.
