Fiorentina Sign Mastantuono on Loan

Real Madrid’s Argentine playmaker Franco Mastantuono has joined Serie A side Fiorentina on a season-long loan deal, the Italian club announced on Friday.

Real Madrid confirmed the agreement in a brief statement on their website, detailing that the 18-year-old will spend the upcoming campaign competing in Italy.

The teenager originally joined Real Madrid last summer on a six-year contract after the Spanish giants paid just over 63 million euros ($72 million) to acquire him from River Plate.

Mastantuono earned international attention in Argentina after becoming the youngest player to represent the senior national team in an official match at 17 years and nine months old.

During his debut season in Spain, the midfielder made 35 appearances across all competitions for Los Blancos and scored three goals.

However, he struggled to secure a permanent spot in Real Madrid’s starting 11, ultimately missing out on selection for Argentina’s World Cup squad.
