A ferry carrying 95 people capsized on Lake Kariba in Zimbabwe on Tuesday after hitting strong waves, police and local media reported.
The vessel, which transports passengers between the northern town of Kariba and surrounding islands and fishing camps, overturned with 90 passengers and five crew members aboard.
Emergency teams launched immediate rescue operations, with local reports fearing several casualties while rescue efforts continue into the evening.
Local authorities confirmed that rescuers have pulled some survivors from the water, though the exact number of rescued passengers remains unclear.

Police noted that they will release further details as the operation unfolds on the world’s largest man-made lake by volume.
