American politician Darline Graham won South Carolina’s Republican Senate runoff on Tuesday, securing a vital victory for Donald Trump after a series of primary defeats threatened his influence over the party.

US media projected that Graham, who entered politics after her brother Lindsey Graham’s death, defeated long-time congressman Ralph Norman after Trump actively campaigned for her across the state.

Trump threw significant weight behind Graham, holding rallies, making direct appeals to voters, and mobilising over $827,000 from the MAGA Inc. political action committee.

Attention now shifts to Oklahoma, where Trump’s political standing faces another test in the Republican gubernatorial runoff between his pick, Mike Mazzei, and state Attorney General Gentner Drummond.

The outcome of these high-stakes contests will further clarify whether Trump maintains his firm hold on the Republican base ahead of the general election.
