New Zealand voters cast their ballots on Saturday in an election analysts expect will be among the closest in the country’s history.
Polls closed at 7:00 pm local time, and election officials are preparing to release initial results over the coming hours.

Pre-election opinion polls indicate that neither Prime Minister Christopher Luxon nor opposition leader Chris Hipkins will secure enough votes to govern outright, setting up potential coalition negotiations to determine the next government.
