Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has warned that anyone found providing information to terrorists will face the full weight of the law.
The governor issued the warning through the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Garba Pella, who represented him at a ceremony marking the handover of 40 motorcycles to support security operations in Hong Local Government Area.
Pella said the intervention reflected Fintiri’s commitment to protecting lives and ensuring that no part of the state was left vulnerable to insecurity.
He said the motorcycles would improve the mobility of security agencies and strengthen their operations against Boko Haram and other insurgent groups, particularly in difficult-to-access areas.
The commissioner disclosed that intelligence gathered by security agencies indicated that some individuals were allegedly leaking security information to insurgents.
He urged traditional institutions and communities to take greater responsibility in the fight against insecurity by working closely with security agencies to identify and report suspected informants.
Pella warned that anyone found providing information to criminals would be dealt with according to the law.
He also assured residents that the state government would continue to provide security agencies with the necessary resources to protect lives and property and contain insurgency.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman of Hong Local Government Area, Aliyu Sa’ad, described the security situation in the area as worrisome, saying attacks on communities had increased in recent weeks.
Sa’ad said more than five villages had been attacked within the previous three to four weeks, resulting in deaths, abductions and destruction of property.

He said the 40 motorcycles would enhance the operational capacity of security personnel, especially in communities and forest areas that are difficult to reach with conventional vehicles.
The council chairman added that the local government had also supported residents whose houses were destroyed during the attacks by providing roofing sheets, wood and financial assistance.
He appealed to residents to cooperate with security agencies and warned against providing information to insurgents, describing informants as a major threat to the safety of communities.
Also speaking, the Til Huba, Alheri Bulus Nyako, described the provision of the motorcycles as a significant boost to security operations in the area.
The traditional ruler said the motorcycles would be particularly useful given the difficult terrain, which limits the movement of heavy security equipment into some communities.
He said the intervention had improved the morale and readiness of forest guards, hunters and other security personnel involved in efforts to combat insurgency.
On the reported activities of informants, Nyako said the traditional institution was concerned about the development and would work with security agencies to address the challenge.
He disclosed that district heads would be directed to engage village and ward heads in strengthening community-level efforts to identify and report individuals suspected of providing information to insurgents.
The traditional ruler commended Fintiri for his continued support for residents of Hong Local Government Area, particularly amid the recent security challenges.
