The Czech Republic Embassy in Nigeria has clarified that Nigerians are not eligible for its scholarship program for the 2027/2028 academic year, contrary to some online reports.
In a statement issued on Monday, the embassy said the reports were incorrect.
“For the 2027/2028 academic year, Nigeria is not among the countries eligible for the Czech Government Scholarship programme,” it said.
“We have seen some information circulating online about Czech Government Scholarships for the 2027/2028 academic year, including information stating that applicants from Nigeria are eligible. Please note that this information is NOT accurate.”
The embassy acknowledged Nigerian students’ interest in studying in the Czech Republic and advised prospective applicants to rely only on information published on official websites.
“We know that many Nigerian students are interested in studying in the Czech Republic, and we understand that this may be disappointing news,” it said.
“Please do not rely on information published on unofficial websites stating that Nigeria is eligible for the 2027/2028 Czech Government Scholarship.”
Prospective applicants were advised to obtain information about the programme from the Czech Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports and the Dům zahraniční spolupráce, which provides information on study opportunities for international students.
