Nigeria Automates Academic Certificate Verification Process

Nigeria’s Education Ministry has fully automated the evaluation and authentication of academic certificates, eliminating the need for applicants to visit its offices.

The Minister of Education, Maruf Tunji Alausa, described the reform as a major step in the government’s digital transformation agenda and a move aligned with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“Under the new system, applicants can complete the entire credential evaluation and authentication process online through the Ministry’s dedicated platform,” the ministry’s spokesperson, Boriowo Folasade, said in a statement issued on Tuesday.

“The reform is designed to reduce bureaucratic bottlenecks, accelerate processing, improve transparency and provide more convenient services to Nigerians and applicants within and outside the country.”

Alausa said the initiative would also strengthen the integrity and credibility of Nigeria’s academic certification system.

According to him, the new system will allow institutions, employers and other stakeholders to verify academic qualifications through a more structured and reliable process.

He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to using technology to modernise education governance, improve institutional efficiency and provide citizen-centred services.

Applicants seeking academic certificate evaluation and authentication are advised to use the Ministry’s credential evaluation and authentication platform, while enquiries can be directed to the Ministry through its designated email address.

The Ministry said the automation is part of broader efforts to improve service delivery and reduce the administrative burden associated with accessing government services.
