Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested 16 suspects and recovered two firearms, a stolen Toyota Camry and illicit drugs in separate operations across the state.

The command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, in a statement issued on Thursday, said eight suspects were arrested during a raid on a suspected cult gathering in Aragba-Orogun following credible intelligence.

Operatives of the Command Anti-Cult Unit, Ozoro, arrested 27-year-old Godspower Achubue, 27-year-old Ziden Edem, 36-year-old Kingsley Aniefem, 22-year-old Omita John, 22-year-old Onumu Happy, 22-year-old Kenneth Ukpurakpo, 26-year-old Juliet Festus, and 22-year-old Oghenegueke Okuanah.

The police said a search warrant was subsequently executed at the residence of one of the suspects, leading to the recovery of a pump-action gun and a live cartridge.

In another operation, operatives of the Okpanam Division arrested 30-year-old Collins Dunkun over an alleged extortion attempt at a construction site.

The police said operatives responded to a report on September 8 2026, that a group of people had allegedly invaded a construction site, stopped workers, seized their tools and demanded ₦700,000 before allowing work to continue.

Dunkun was arrested at the scene, while six other suspects reportedly fled.

A search led to the recovery of a locally made single-barrel pistol and a cartridge, according to the police.

The Command said efforts to arrest the fleeing suspects were ongoing.

Operatives of the Divisional Surveillance Team also raided an incomplete building at King Zanga, Ugbuegwai Community, Warri, following intelligence on suspected illicit drug activities.

Police arrested five suspects during the operation.

The police said quantities of suspected Indian hemp, Codeine, Colorado, Rizla, SK and Canadian Loud were recovered during the operation.

In a separate operation, the Ekpan Division recovered a Toyota Camry reportedly stolen in Benin City on September 7, 2026 and arrested two suspects.

The vehicle, a brown Toyota Camry Pencil Light with registration number BEN-572BT, was traced to the New Era area of Jakpa Road, Ekpan, following an intelligence-led investigation.

The police said operatives laid an ambush after sighting the vehicle, leading to the arrest of Destiny Suleman and Samuel Ejiro.

The suspects remain in custody as investigations into the incidents continue.
