The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has described Peter Obi as “overhyped” and “overrated,” questioning the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) Presidential Candidate’s suitability for the presidency.
Onanuga made the remarks in a post on X on Saturday.
He described Obi as “clueless” and accused him of being a “spectacular failure” during his tenure as Anambra governor.
“Peter Obi is simply overhyped and overrated. The guy is clueless. As Anambra governor, he was a spectacular failure,” Onanuga wrote.
The presidential aide also questioned Obi supporters‘ expectations that he could transform Nigeria if elected president.
“Now gunning for a higher office, his supporters think he can perform a miracle. How? Governance is not by magic,” he said.
Onanuga argued that anyone seeking national leadership should have a proven record of governance.
“A wannabe national leader must have a governance pedigree, which Peter lacks,” he said.
He also accused Obi of changing his political positions frequently and allowing social media supporters to influence his worldview.
“He changes his positions like a chameleon. And his worldview is dictated by his mob on social media,” Onanuga added.
The remarks come as political activities intensify before the 2027 presidential election, with Obi among the opposition figures seeking the presidency.
