CAF Invites Infantino to Strategy Summit

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has invited FIFA President Gianni Infantino to attend a two-day Strategy Conference in Cape Verde on October 7 and 8.

CAF President Patrice Motsepe sent invitations to all 54 African member association presidents for the summit as Infantino prepares for next year’s FIFA presidential election in Rabat.

The African football governing body recently reiterated its strong backing for Infantino following intense backlash from European, Asian, and CONCACAF officials over his scrapped proposal to sell a 20 per cent stake in FIFA competitions to private investors.

Following the two-day strategy meeting, former Arsenal manager Arsène Wenger, now FIFA’s Chief of Global Football Development, will lead a 2026 World Cup review on October 9 for all African national team head coaches.

The session will evaluate tactical trends, refereeing performance, and tournament logistics, continuing a FIFA post-World Cup tradition established after the 2010 tournament in South Africa.
