British singer Ed Sheeran has prepared to return to the stage after controversy over his handling of a Palestinian solidarity dispute related to his tour.
Ed Sheeran is scheduled to resume performances after his recent Philadelphia concert drew renewed attention to the controversy.
The 35-year-old songwriter addressed the wider controversy on Saturday, saying the situation in Gaza was “catastrophic and unjustifiable and disproportionate.”

“I have my personal views on this devastating conflict. Just because I choose not to speak publicly, it doesn’t mean I don’t have them,” Sheeran said in an Instagram statement.
He also said fans attending his concerts did not expect a political forum.
Sheeran performed alone at the show after several supporting acts withdrew from his tour, citing support for Palestinians.

The dispute began after US rapper Macklemore used a New Jersey concert to voice support for Palestinians and criticise Israel’s war in Gaza.
Macklemore’s appearance prompted backlash from stadium owners, while several artists later left Sheeran’s tour.
Sheeran denied responsibility for Macklemore’s removal, saying decisions about the tour were made by its promoter.
The controversy has nevertheless drawn criticism from pro-Palestinian campaigners, including the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel, which called for a boycott of the singer.
Several groups of people also demonstrated outside Sheeran’s Philadelphia concert, chanting “Free, free Palestine” while police monitored the gathering.
Sheeran has apologised for the difficulties surrounding the tour, saying he had made difficult decisions and mistakes.
“I am making mistakes, and I’m so so sorry,” he said.
His return to the stage comes as Israel’s war in Gaza continues to fuel international debate over artists’ responses to the conflict.
Gaza’s health ministry says tens of thousands of Palestinians have been killed since the war began, while the United Nations (UN) considers the ministry’s figures broadly reliable.
