Nigerian Troops Arrest 11 Kidnappers In Plateau

Troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation Enduring Peace (JTF-OPEP), have rescued two kidnapped victims and arrested 11 suspected kidnappers in Plateau State.

Capt. Polycarp Oteh, the operation’s Media Officer, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday in Jos.

The operation was carried out on Saturday following intelligence on suspected kidnapping activities in the state.

According to Oteh, troops from Sector 1, Sub-Sector 12, rescued the victims and arrested 11 suspects.

The troops also recovered weapons and ammunition during separate operations in the state.

“Troops of Sector 1, Sub-Sector 12, deployed at Lamingo, successfully rescued two kidnapped victims and arrested 11 suspected kidnappers.”

“They also recovered weapons during separate operations conducted in the early hours of Saturday,” Oteh said.

Oteh said the troops acted on intelligence about kidnappers operating around Rayfield and other parts of Jos North Local Government Area.

They raided suspected criminal hideouts in Shere, Gwafan and Maza Hills.

The raids led to the arrest of 11 suspects.

The rescued victims later identified three of the suspects as members of the syndicate allegedly responsible for their abduction.

Meanwhile, troops also conducted cordon-and-search operations in Bassa and Mangu Local Government Areas.

The operations led to the recovery of more weapons from the communities.

Oteh urged residents to support the military and other security agencies by providing useful information.

He said community support remained important in tackling security challenges across Plateau State.
