Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has urged American voters to remove United States (US) President Donald Trump’s allies from Congress after US forces withdrew from their remaining Iraqi bases on Wednesday.
The Guards made the appeal in a 25-page open letter published Tuesday, before the November 3 congressional elections.
The letter called on Americans to use their political power to remove current leaders from office. It also urged voters to reject US support for Israel and military intervention abroad.

“Remove from power the evil, deceitful, and violent politicians who are responsible for America’s current state,” the letter said.
The Guards also called on American politicians to recognise that “the world has changed”. The appeal comes as US forces complete their withdrawal from their remaining bases in neighbouring Iraq. The withdrawal was agreed in 2024 under former President Joe Biden but has been carried out by Trump’s administration.
Tehran and its allies have celebrated the US withdrawal as a victory for Iran’s regional influence. The departure comes 23 years after US-led forces toppled former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein. The invasion was followed by years of conflict and the eventual rise of Islamic State.
The IRGC letter comes as the US war with Iran continues to affect Americans and the wider region. Trump campaigned in 2024 on promises to avoid new wars, end existing conflicts and reduce inflation.
However, the conflict with Iran has contributed to higher global fuel prices and wider regional instability and the IRGC’s appeal is unlikely to reach many American voters, particularly outside audiences already following Iranian media.
Meanwhile, Qatar has continued its shuttle diplomacy between Washington and Tehran. Qatari mediators have exchanged messages between both sides in an effort to end the war.
“We are exchanging messages between the parties, and we’re working towards establishing a common ground,” Qatari Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed al-Ansari said.
He said Qatar was working towards a deal that could protect all sides from the conflict’s consequences. The US and Iran have so far failed to reach an agreement to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. The waterway is a major route for global oil and liquefied natural gas shipments.
Iran has proposed a seven-day plan that would lead to the reopening of the strait and a pause in fighting. Trump has rejected the proposal, although Iranian officials say Washington had not formally communicated its rejection through mediators.
Trump has continued to insist that Iran must not obtain a nuclear weapon. He also predicted that the war would end soon.
“I don’t know if they are going to give up yet but they’ll give up,” Trump told reporters Tuesday.
“They are doing very poorly,” he added.
The conflict has damaged Iran’s conventional military capabilities and weakened its economy. Iran has responded with missile and drone attacks on US allies in the Gulf. It has also restricted tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, contributing to higher global energy prices.
Iran denies seeking nuclear weapons and says it has the right to develop nuclear technology for peaceful purposes under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
