US President Donald Trump faced repeated interruptions from protesters at a campaign rally in San Antonio, Texas, as Republicans intensify efforts to mobilise voters ahead of the November 2026 midterm elections.
Trump was interrupted several times during his speech at the Freeman Coliseum on Wednesday, with police escorting some demonstrators from the venue. Reports said at least half a dozen protesters disrupted the event, while other accounts put the number removed at about a dozen.
The Republican president dismissed the demonstrators as “paid protesters” and claimed they were being financed by enemies of the United States, without providing evidence. Supporters responded to some of the interruptions with boos and chants of “U-S-A!”

One demonstrator appeared to be filming himself as he was escorted from the auditorium. Another was seen carrying a Cuban flag, while reports said one protester wore a shirt bearing the words “SOS Cuba,” a reference to the Caribbean nation that remains subject to extensive US sanctions.
The Texas appearance formed part of Trump’s recent campaign activity supporting Republican candidates before the midterm elections. In San Antonio, he campaigned for Republican Senate candidate Ken Paxton as the party works to retain control of Congress.
Economic pressures have become a major campaign issue, particularly the cost of living and higher fuel prices. Paxton has separately identified the Iran war and petrol and diesel costs as major concerns affecting voters.
The rally disruptions came less than a month before Election Day, with both parties increasing campaign activity across competitive congressional races.
