US President Donald Trump secured an agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday to release diesel fuel into American and international markets to combat surging energy costs driven by the war with Iran.
Under the deal, Russia will immediately deliver more than 300,000 tonnes of diesel, followed by an additional 500,000 tonnes in November to relieve global market shortages.
Following the announcement, the US Treasury Department issued a temporary license authorising Russian diesel shipments to flow freely to international buyers.

Trump pledged that the additional supply will rapidly lower fuel prices for consumers worldwide.
