Portuguese police cleared protest camps in Lisbon and Porto overnight on Sunday, arresting 31 people as demonstrations over soaring housing costs continued.
Police said officers intervened early Sunday to dismantle what they described as illegal encampments after efforts to resolve the situation through dialogue ended.
The force said 31 people were arrested for disobedience and 171 structures were removed during the operation.

Police also reported that 11 people were injured, including eight civilians and three officers.

However, organisers of the protest movement gave a higher figure, telling Portuguese media that 37 demonstrators were injured during the police operations, most of them in Lisbon.
The demonstrators have accused the government of failing to do enough to address rising housing costs and criticised proposed rent reforms that they say could make it easier for landlords to evict tenants.
Police have repeatedly dismantled the camps in recent weeks, with organisers accusing officers of using excessive force against demonstrators.
The protests are part of wider discontent over the cost of living across Europe.
Demonstrators in neighbouring Spain have also set up tents in central Madrid as they campaign over housing affordability.
