Troops of Operation Hadin Kai have neutralised 44 suspected Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters in coordinated operations across Borno State.

The Acting Military Information Officer of the Joint Task Force North-East, Captain Mohammed Goni, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday. Goni said the troops had continued their offensive against terrorist groups through intelligence-led operations across the region.

The operations also left several suspected terrorists injured, while troops destroyed vehicles, motorcycles and materials used to make improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

On October 26, troops engaged suspected terrorists at different locations in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State. The operations followed intelligence reports and surveillance findings.

According to Goni, an assessment of the operation showed that 28 suspected terrorists were killed, while six others sustained injuries. He added that on October 28, the Maritime Component of the Joint Task Force, operating from the Naval Base Lake Chad in Baga, launched offensive operations against terrorist targets in the Lake Chad area.

“Preliminary assessments indicated that eight terrorists were neutralised, while 10 others reportedly sustained varying degrees of injuries,” Goni said.

In a separate operation, an air interdiction mission disrupted a suspected terrorist group preparing to plant IEDs. The strike killed eight operatives and destroyed their vehicle, motorcycles and explosive materials.

Goni said the operation stopped the group from carrying out its planned attack.

“These successes reflect the sustained pressure being exerted on terrorist networks through intelligence-led joint operations,” he said.

He added that Operation Hadin Kai remained committed to weakening terrorist groups, limiting their movements and protecting communities across Nigeria’s North-East. The Theatre Command urged residents to provide credible information to security agencies to support ongoing efforts to restore peace and security.

The latest operations followed another military offensive on Monday, when troops killed 16 suspected ISWAP fighters during coordinated air and artillery strikes on three suspected terrorist locations in the Tunbunma area of southern Lake Chad.

The earlier operation followed intelligence reports indicating the presence of key terrorist leaders and fighters in the area.
