All 154 students affected by an adverse reaction to medication at Government Science Secondary School in Batagarawa, Katsina State, have recovered and been discharged from hospital, with no deaths recorded, police have confirmed.

The Katsina State Police Command said the students developed symptoms on October 26, 2026, after receiving Praziquantel tablets during a campaign to prevent and treat bilharzia, a parasitic disease.

They were subsequently taken to designated health facilities for medical care.
