The House of Representatives has given the chief executive officers of MTN, Globacom and Airtel until November 4 to appear before it and explain the persistent poor quality of telecommunications services across Nigeria.

The lawmakers reportedly warned that the telecoms executives could face arrest if they fail to honour the summons.

The decision follows more than 214,000 complaints reportedly received over poor network services within five months, highlighting growing concerns among subscribers about the quality of telecommunications services in the country.

The chief executives of the three telecommunications companies are expected to appear before the House on or before November 4 to respond to the concerns raised by the lawmakers.

The summons comes amid continued complaints from subscribers over dropped calls, unstable internet connections and other network-related challenges affecting individuals and businesses.

The lawmakers are expected to seek explanations from the companies on the causes of the persistent service disruptions and the measures being taken to improve network quality across the country.

The outcome of the engagement could determine the next steps the House takes in addressing concerns over telecommunications services and protecting subscribers’ interests.
