French Ligue 1 club Le Havre have sacked coach Didier Digard on Saturday and accepted the resignation of chairman Jean-Michel Roussier following a heavy 5-1 home defeat to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
The club’s American owners, Blue Crow Sports Group, took the decisions after Friday’s defeat, which increased pressure on the struggling team. Le Havre are yet to record a league win this season. They sit bottom of the Ligue 1 table with just two points.
In a statement on Saturday, the owners said they had “accepted the principle of Mr. Jean-Michel Roussier’s resignation from his position as chairman”.

The resignation will be formalised at a board meeting on Thursday. The owners also confirmed that the club had suspended Digard while it considers further action.
“Furthermore, Le Havre Athletic Club has notified its coach, Didier Digard, of his precautionary suspension pending further decisions within the framework of ongoing proceedings,” the statement added.
Meanwhile, the club has appointed youth teams director Jair Karam as interim coach. Karam will take charge of the first team from Monday when players resume training.
Digard is the second Ligue 1 coach to lose his job this season. Lens earlier sacked German coach Dino Toppmöller after just six league matches.
