Nigerian senator representing Edo North, Adams Oshiomhole, assured voters at an All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign rally in Rivers State on Saturday that President Bola Tinubu will pursue an economic policy centred on inclusive, job-led growth during his second term.
Addressing supporters in Port Harcourt, Oshiomhole stated that President Tinubu remains dedicated to reviving manufacturing and creating sustainable employment rather than relying on jobless economic expansion.
Drawing a sharp contrast with opposition leaders, Oshiomhole blamed past economic policies under former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and President Olusegun Obasanjo for driving major manufacturing firms out of the country.
“Mr President is committed in the second term to pursuing all-inclusive growth,” Oshiomhole stated. “Now Mr President is committed to inclusive growth. That is to say, an economic policy regime that will lead to job-led growth, not jobless growth. I repeat, job-led growth.”
Oshiomhole specifically pointed to the shutdown of major industrial hubs in Rivers State and Lagos as consequences of past administrative failures.

Reckless Deregulation
“For example, here in Port Harcourt, those of you who are not too young, you know you have Michelin Company making tyres in Port Harcourt,” Oshiomhole said.
“Mr President is committed in the second term to pursue all-inclusive growth.”
Adams Oshiomhole says President Tinubu’s second-term agenda will focus on inclusive growth, job creation and bringing manufacturing companies back to Nigeria.

“When was it closed down? It was closed down under Atiku as vice president and in charge of Obasanjo’s economic team.”
He added that former leaders oversaw “reckless deregulation and the complete abandonment of government responsibility.”

Detailing how President Tinubu’s second-term economic framework will benefit skilled Nigerian youths, Oshiomhole emphasised the revival of domestic production.
“If Michelin returns or another tyre-making factory returns to Port Harcourt, would you rather if you read chemical engineering, computer engineering, or all of that technical stuff, wouldn’t you rather go there to work than even be in the civil service?” Oshiomhole asked.
He concluded by assuring the crowd that President Tinubu will establish targeted institutions to drive real growth rather than simply lamenting unemployment.
