Nigeria Records Highest Single-Day COVID-19 Infections

Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has reported the country’s single-day highest number of COVID-19 infections.

On Thursday, the NCDC reported 1,964 new infections in the country with Lagos registering almost half of them.

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Plateau State also recorded high number of cases with 246 and 166 cases respectively. Kaduna recorded 128 cases on the day as twenty-three states, and the FCT recorded at least a case of COVID-19.

A total of seven deaths was recorded on the same day while 1,310 patients were discharged after recovering.

Nigeria has so far recorded a total of 116,655 cases now, with 93,646 recoveries and 1485 deaths. This pegs Nigeria’s case fatality rate at 1.27%.

The country has tested more than one million people since it reported its first case in February 2020.

Thursday’s COVID-19 figure is the fourth time Nigeria will break its single-day highest COVID-19 infections record in 2021.
