Egypt Plans to Export Gas to Lebanon

Egypt is planning to export gas to Jordan to generate power that will supply Lebanon.

The north African country’s petroleum minister, Tarek El Molla, disclosed this on Wednesday after a meeting in Jordan that also included his Lebanese, Syrian and Jordanian counterparts.

El Molla says he hopes the exportation of gas to Jordan will happen as soon as possible.

The meeting was held to discuss a U.S.-backed plan to ease Lebanon’s power crisis that involves using Egyptian gas to generate power in Jordan that would be transmitted via Syria.
