Tembisa Provincial Tertiary Hospital in Ekurhuleni has had to be temporarily shut down after a deadly shooting on Wednesday morning.
A police officer in a SAPS vehicle with blue lights had apparently stormed the healthcare facility before the shooting took place. A twitter user @issa_goddess022 who lives next to the home of the pair said the incident may be connected to a lingering divorce case between the couple.
Gauteng officials say a police officer shot his partner, a 30-year-old lady nursing assistant at the hospital. She died on the spot. The officer is in critical condition after turning the gun on himself.
The scene in the parking lot of Tembisa hospital had been barricaded and crime scene experts were combing the area.
