Atalanta sacked head coach Raffaele Palladino on Tuesday after less than a season in charge.
The Serie A club announced the dismissal ahead of the widely anticipated arrival of former Lazio manager Maurizio Sarri.
Atalanta originally hired the 42-year-old Palladino in November to replace Ivan Juric and launch a bid for a top-four finish.
However, Palladino failed to replicate the historic success that fans and club management enjoyed during Gian Piero Gasperini’s nine-season tenure.
Under Palladino’s leadership, the team finished seventh in Serie A—12 points adrift of the Champions League qualification spots—and exited the Italian Cup in the semi-finals.
Palladino previously built his coaching reputation at Monza before joining Fiorentina in the summer of 2024, where he spent one season.

Italian media reports indicate that Atalanta will officially unveil the 67-year-old Sarri as their new coach within the next few days.
Sarri recently became available after leaving Lazio following a disappointing ninth-place league finish.
