The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has scheduled its presidential campaign flag-off in Sokoto State for Wednesday, with its candidate, Atiku Abubakar, expected to lead the event.
According to a Punch report, the campaign will take place at the party’s state secretariat at No. 1 Ilorin Road, Sokoto, as the ADC steps up mobilisation before the 2027 general elections.
The ADC State Presidential Campaign Coordinator, Senator Ibrahim Lamido, announced the plans in a statement on Wednesday. Lamido said Atiku would arrive at the Sultan Abubakar III International Airport, Sokoto, at 9 am. He also invited party supporters and members of the public to welcome the former Vice President at the airport before proceeding to the campaign venue.

In addition, Lamido urged party executives across the state’s 23 local government areas and wards to mobilise their members for the event. He also called on mobilisation coordinators, support groups, women and youth organisations to ensure strong participation.
“All local government area and ward executives, mobilisation coordinators, support groups, women and youth organisations are urged to activate their respective structures and ensure maximum participation,” he said.

The campaign flag-off comes following growing political tension in Sokoto between the ADC and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The ADC had accused the Sokoto State Government of sealing its campaign office along Ahmadu Bello Way. The party called for the office to be reopened immediately. It has also raised concerns over the safety of its members and supporters, alleging attacks and political intimidation in the state. The claims have drawn reactions from political stakeholders.
The planned campaign is expected to give the ADC an opportunity to strengthen its support base and present its message to voters in Sokoto before the 2027 general elections.
