Aubameyang Out Two Months After Knee Surgery

Deportivo La Coruna striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang underwent knee surgery in Madrid on Thursday following a meniscus injury in his right knee, his club announced.

The 37-year-old felt discomfort during Sunday’s draw against Real Betis and will return to La Coruna to begin his recovery.

Deportivo stated that his progress will dictate his timeline for resuming training, while Spanish media reports estimate he will remain sidelined for nearly two months.

Aubameyang has scored five of Deportivo’s 10 league goals this season, fuelling a strong start for the promoted club, which currently holds seventh place in La Liga with 10 points from seven matches.

The news follows his recent decision to retire from international football earlier this month, after expressing humiliation over government criticism following Gabon’s disappointing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations campaign.
