Burna Boy, Rema, Davido to Perform at 2026 World Cup

Nigerian music stars Burna Boy, Rema and Davido have been confirmed among performers to headline major music events at the 2026 Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) World Cup, marking a significant global showcase for Afrobeats artists.

The announcements were made by FIFA, which said Burna Boy will perform at the tournament’s opening ceremony in Mexico City, while Rema is scheduled for the opening ceremony in Los Angeles. Davido will headline a World Cup countdown concert series in Los Angeles.

FIFA said Burna Boy will perform the collaborative track “Dai Dai” alongside Colombian singer Shakira at the Mexico City opening ceremony on July 11, describing the event as a star-studded global showcase.

The organisation also listed other performers for the ceremonies, including Mexican artists Alejandro Fernández, Belinda, Lila Downs, Los Ángeles Azules and Maná, as well as international acts such as J Balvin, Danny Ocean and South Africa’s Tyla.

Rema will also appear at the Los Angeles opening ceremony alongside artists including Katy Perry, Future, Anitta and Tyla, in what FIFA described as a major cultural and entertainment celebration.

Davido is expected to perform at the World Cup countdown concert scheduled for June 10 in Los Angeles, alongside Diplo’s Major Lazer.

“Los Angeles will play host to a high energy celebration, featuring Diplo’s Major Lazer and Davido, the first artists announced for what promises to be an unforgettable night of music, football and culture,” FIFA said in a statement. 

The governing body also confirmed that several Nigerian artistes, including Ayra Starr, Davido, Rema and Burna Boy, are featured on the official World Cup soundtrack album.

The album includes collaborations such as Rema with Lisa and Anitta on “Goals”, Davido with Nelly Furtado and Major Lazer on “No Place Like Home”, Ayra Starr with Latto on “Show Me”, and Burna Boy’s collaboration with Shakira on “Dai Dai”.
