Canada Announces New Air Defence Support for Ukraine

Zelensky announced the new support during talks with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney.

“I’m so thankful,” the Ukrainian leader said. “This is very important package of air defense and this is crucial.”

Carney said Canada had provided CAN$26 billion (US$19 billion) in support to Ukraine since Russia’s invasion.

“We’ve provided support for the energy systems and beyond. We’ll provide more support,” Carney said.

The Canadian Prime Minister did not disclose the value or specific details of the latest air-defence package.

Ukraine has repeatedly stressed its urgent need for stronger air-defence systems as Russia intensifies ballistic missile strikes.

The latest support comes as Kyiv continues to seek additional military assistance from its international allies to protect civilians and critical infrastructure.
