Colombian President Abelardo de la Espriella urged US President Donald Trump on Saturday to temporarily suspend trade tariffs on Colombian goods following a devastating earthquake.

De la Espriella reached out to Washington to request immediate economic relief for local business owners struggling with the natural disaster’s aftermath.

The request follows a recent tariff increase in late July, when the US raised rates on Colombian exports from 10 per cent to 12.5 per cent.
