Officials in Lithuania have said a drone, likely Ukrainian, crashed without detonating near the eastern city of Utena.
The head of Lithuania’s crisis management centre, Vilmantas Vitkauskas, said on Sunday that the aircraft was “very probably” Ukrainian and confirmed that no casualties were recorded.
He noted that several drones have fallen in the Baltic region, including Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, since the start of the Russia–Ukraine war in 2022, with both Russian and Ukrainian drones previously involved in similar incidents.

Recent cases include the crash of two Ukrainian drones in neighbouring Latvia earlier this month, an incident that contributed to political fallout in the country, including the resignation of its defence minister and the collapse of the government.
Officials say Ukraine has increasingly used long-range drones to strike targets in Russia, particularly oil facilities and ports, as part of its broader military strategy.
However, they also acknowledge that technical faults or electronic jamming can cause drones to veer off course and land in allied territory.
Authorities in Lithuania said the latest incident is under investigation, but stressed that no damage or injuries were reported.
