Newcastle United have extended defender Lewis Hall’s contract until 2031, securing the England international’s long-term future at St James’ Park.

The 22-year-old left-back has signed a two-year extension to his previous deal, with the new agreement coming despite reported interest from Manchester United.

Hall, a lifelong Newcastle supporter, described the new contract as a proud moment and said he was pleased to continue representing the club and its supporters. He said playing for Newcastle carried particular significance because of his family’s connection to the club, adding that making his family proud was one of his main motivations as a footballer.

“It’s an absolute pleasure to play for this club and to represent the supporters,” Hall said.

“One of the main reasons I play is to make my family proud, and I know how much it means to them to watch me playing for Newcastle United,” he added.

Hall joined Newcastle from Chelsea in 2023 and has since made 106 appearances for the club.

He also expressed optimism about Newcastle’s start to the season under new head coach Matthias Jaissle, saying the team was in a positive position and capable of achieving major things.

“It’s a really good place to be. It’s really pleasing with how we’ve started the season, especially with the new gaffer and coaching staff coming in, and I think we can go on to achieve really big things.”

Jaissle welcomed Hall’s contract extension, describing the defender as an important part of the club’s long-term plans. The Newcastle manager praised Hall’s mentality and willingness to improve, saying the young defender consistently looks to learn and develop his game.

Jaissle also highlighted Hall’s ability to cover ground, defend with maturity and intelligence, and contribute to Newcastle’s attacking play through his technical ability. He added that Hall still had significant room for development and said he looked forward to working with him as he continued to grow at Newcastle.

“He’s a very important player for us and for what we are building here,” Jaissle said.

“What excites me most is that I believe the best is still to come from Lewis. He has a lot of room to develop, and I am looking forward to working with him as he grows with us,” he added.

The extension reflects Newcastle’s confidence in Hall and their intention to make him a key part of the club’s future.
