Drone Strike Kills Russian Rail Workers

A Ukrainian drone strike on a border town within Russia’s Bryansk region killed three railway workers on Thursday, according to a statement from the state-run RZhD rail network.

The aerial attack targeted and struck a stationary shunting locomotive at a station located in Unecha, a municipality situated close to both the Ukrainian and Belarusian borders.

The victims of the strike were identified by the network as a train driver, an assistant driver, and the assistant’s son, who worked as a repairman and was born in 2007.

The incident highlights the ongoing cross-border spillover of the conflict, which has now stretched into its fifth year since Moscow launched its full-scale offensive.

Russian towns and villages located along the frontier have frequently come under fire from Ukrainian forces during this period.

The deadly locomotive strike follows repeated accusations from officials in Kyiv, who have previously accused the Russian military of deliberately targeting Ukraine’s civilian and logistics rail infrastructure.
