Uncertainty hit the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential primary in Ebonyi State after two rival factions of the party announced different winners from the same exercise.

One faction of the party declared former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, as the winner of the primary, stating that he secured 6,050 votes. According to the result announced by Jennifer Adibe Nwafor, who supervised the exercise for that faction, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen came second with 4,840 votes, while former Vice President Atiku Abubakar polled 1,210 votes.

The contradictory declarations have further exposed deep divisions within the party in Ebonyi State, with both camps insisting that their results represent the authentic outcome of the primary election.

As of the time of filing this report, the national leadership of the party had yet to issue an official clarification or confirm the authentic winner of the disputed Ebonyi presidential primary.
