Ethiopian Airlines Emerge as Core Investor in Nigeria Air

The federal government of Nigeria has announced Ethiopian Airlines as technical partner and core investor for the establishment of its planned national carrier, the Nigeria Air －following a successful bid.

Disclosing this in a press briefing in Abuja on Friday, the Minister of Aviation Senator Hadi Sirika said the airline won the bid with a consortium and they will have 95 controlling shares.

Ethiopian Airlines will have 49 percent equity while the other consortium will have 46 percent and the Federal Government will own 5 percent equity.

The Minister explained that Ethiopian Airline was the only airline that met the bidding close date and also met the evaluation criteria.

Last week, following a provisional approval by the National Universities Commission, (NUC), Sirika stated that was set for the take-off of the African Aviation and Aerospace University, AAAU, Abuja.
