Hundreds of Ethiopians crossed into neighbouring Sudan over the weekend to escape heavy fighting in western Tigray.

Local sources reported heavy artillery and drone strikes near the border town of Shererina, forcing civilians and wounded fighters to seek refuge in Sudan’s Hamdayet region despite Sudan’s own ongoing civil war.

The clashes signal a dangerous escalation as federal troops and Tigrayan forces mass along the northern border.
