Five Nigeria: Five Killed in Lagos- Ibadan Expressway Motor Crash

Five people have been killed in an accident around the Ogere area on Lagos/Ibadan expressway.

The accident occurred on Tuesday night after a tanker laden with Petroleum Motor Spirit spilt its contents on the highway and resulted in an explosion.

The spokesperson of the Federal Roads Safety Corps, Ogun Sector Command, Florence Okpe while confirming the incident said it was caused by dangerous driving.

“The spill affected some other vehicles parked at the hard shoulder of the road.

Okpe narrated that “a total of five vehicles were involved. Fire service Sagamu, PTD Ogere, and Gateway Police Station old tollgate Ogere have been contacted,”

She said that five victims were recovered from one of the crashed trucks and have been deposited at FOS Morgue Ipara, Ogun State.

Traffic has been diverted to avoid the secondary crash and motorists are advised to remain calm and cooperate with traffic managers.
