Hamas, Egypt Intelligence Chief Hold Gaza Peace Talks

A Hamas delegation led by chief negotiator Khalil al-Hayya met Egyptian intelligence chief Hassan Rashad in El-Alamein on Sunday to advance U.S. President Donald Trump’s 15-point post-war plan for Gaza.

The delegation reaffirmed its willingness to transfer administrative control and surrender its weapons to a technical governance committee once implementation begins.

However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continues to reject the peace framework, demanding the total disarmament of Hamas before withdrawing Israeli forces from the enclave.

Hamas officials urged Egyptian, Qatari, and Turkish mediators to pressure Israel into honouring the ceasefire agreement and halting alleged violations.

The meeting precedes an upcoming regional diplomatic tour by U.S. envoy Jared Kushner, who plans to visit Egypt and Israel to bridge the rift over the proposal.

During Kushner’s visit, Hamas delegates also plan to confer with U.S. officials and the Board of Peace’s high representative for Gaza, Nickolay Mladenov, to resolve outstanding obstacles to the roadmap.
