Celtic have won the Scottish Cup after a 3-1 victory over Dunfermline on Saturday, with Nigerian professional footballer Kelechi Iheanacho scoring in the second half to help seal the win and complete a domestic double just days after their league triumph.

Martin O’Neill’s side took control of the match at Hampden Park, going 2-0 up before half-time through goals from Daizen Maeda and Arne Engels.

Iheanacho then extended the lead in the second half, finishing a well-timed pass after beating several defenders to put the result beyond doubt. Dunfermline pulled one back through Josh Cooper late in the game, but Celtic remained firmly in control.

The victory secured Celtic’s 43rd Scottish Cup title and extended their winning streak to nine matches across all competitions. It also capped a successful season for interim manager Martin O’Neill, who now has nine major honours in his long spell with the club.

O’Neill reflected on his future, saying: “If the season was to start tomorrow, I couldn’t do it… What I have is a passion for the game. I don’t think that will ever leave me.”
