INEC: 1.9 Million PVCs Collected in Osun

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that 1,906,390 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) have been collected by registered voters in Osun State ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

According to the commission, the figure represents 81.50 per cent of the 2,339,233 registered voters in the state, while 426,842 PVCs, representing 18.50 per cent, remain uncollected.

INEC, in a statement issued on Thursday by the National Commissioner and Chairman of its Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Haruna, said the uncollected voter cards had been securely deposited with the Central Bank of Nigeria in line with its established procedure.

“Out of the total of 2,339,233 registered voters in the State, 1,906,390 PVCs, representing 81.50 per cent, have been collected,” the commission stated.

“The remaining 426,842 PVCs, representing 18.50 per cent, have been safely deposited with the Central Bank of Nigeria in line with the Commission’s established practice.”

The electoral body also revealed that 6,101 individuals who applied to replace damaged, defaced, or lost PVCs had downloadable copies of their voter cards printed.

“Similarly, it should be noted that some persons with damaged, defaced, or lost PVCs applied for replacement of their cards. A total of 6,101 among those who applied printed downloadable copies of their PVCs,” INEC added.

The commission further disclosed that a polling-unit-by-polling-unit breakdown of collected PVCs had been published on its official website for public access.

With preparations intensifying for the August 15 governorship election, INEC assured political parties, civil society organisations, the media, and residents of Osun State that it was fully prepared to deliver a credible electoral process.

“The commission reassures political parties, civil society organisations, media, and the good people of Osun State of its total readiness to conduct a free, fair, credible, transparent, and inclusive election on Saturday, 15th August 2026,” Haruna said.

The announcement comes as stakeholders continue preparations and campaigns enter the final phase before voters head to polling units across the state.
