Israeli forces shot and killed a 15-year-old boy during a military incursion into the West Bank city of Nablus on Thursday, according to the Palestinian Authority’s health ministry.

The victim was identified as Youssef Sameh Shtayyeh.

Local officials reported that the incident occurred as a convoy of six Israeli military vehicles was exiting the Rafidia district after a morning operation that involved questioning local shop owners.

Witnesses from the Nablus municipality stated that the teenager was shot without clear provocation as the troops were leaving the commercial area.

While the Israeli military confirmed it is investigating the reports of the shooting, local representatives expressed confusion over the use of lethal force during the withdrawal phase of the raid.

The incident adds to the growing death toll in the occupied territory, which has seen a significant surge in violence over the past year.

Since late 2023, the West Bank has experienced an unprecedented wave of conflict involving both Israeli security forces and settlers.

Data from the Palestinian health ministry indicates that over 1,000 Palestinians have been killed in the territory during this period, including a substantial number of civilians and minors.

Concurrently, Israeli officials have recorded dozens of fatalities among their own citizens and soldiers due to retaliatory attacks and ongoing military operations in the region.
