Despite an existing ceasefire, an Israeli strike in southern Lebanon on Saturday killed one person, according to the Lebanese health ministry.
The Israeli military, meanwhile, stated it targeted a Hezbollah militant.
The Lebanese ministry reported that an “Israeli enemy drone strike that targeted a vehicle” in the Tyre district resulted in the death.
The Israeli military confirmed it “struck and eliminated” a Hezbollah commander involved in rehabilitating the militant group in the Bint Jbeil area, near the border, though it did not specify the strike’s exact location.
Separately on Saturday, the Lebanese army announced that an Israeli drone carrying a hand grenade crashed near the border town of Mais al-Jabal. Troops detonated the munition and removed the drone for inspection, with the army releasing images of the aircraft.
Israel has continued its strikes in Lebanon despite a November ceasefire aimed at ending over a year of hostilities with Hezbollah, including two months of intense conflict.
Israel has warned it will persist with strikes until the Iran-backed militant group is disarmed.
The truce stipulated that Hezbollah fighters would withdraw north of the Litani River, approximately 30 kilometres from the Israeli border, leaving only the Lebanese army and UN peacekeepers as armed entities in the region.
While Israel was to withdraw all its troops from Lebanon, it has maintained a presence in five areas deemed strategic.
