Ivory Coast Part Ways With Coach Fae

The Ivorian Football Federation (FIF) announced Friday that national team head coach Emerse Fae has left his position following the expiration of his contract on July 31, 2026.

The federation opted not to renew the deal, bringing an end to Fae’s transformative tenure at the helm of the Elephants.

The FIF expressed gratitude for his contributions, noting that the team’s progress under his leadership remains a significant chapter in Ivorian football history.

Mudryk Cleared to Play After Doping Ban

Fae famously took charge of the national team midway through the Africa Cup of Nations two years ago after officials sacked former manager Jean-Louis Gasset during the group stage.

Initially stepping in as interim boss, Fae rallied the squad to secure Ivory Coast’s third continental title with a 2-1 victory over Nigeria in the final, earning him the permanent coaching role.

Following his continental success, Fae guided Ivory Coast through a successful qualification campaign for the 2026 World Cup.

Under his guidance, the Elephants advanced to the tournament’s knockout phase for the first time in the country’s history before eventually falling to Norway in the round of 32.

The FIF confirmed it will announce Fae’s successor at a later date.
