JAMB Discredits Viral UTME Result Claim

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has dismissed a purported Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) result slip circulating online, which claims a candidate scored 394 in the 2026 examination, describing it as completely fabricated.

The result, shared on X, alleged that a female candidate, Okon Winniefred Sampson, scored 394 out of 400.

In a statement on Sunday and signed by its spokesperson, Fabian Benjamin, the Board expressed concern over the widespread circulation of the false document, even among otherwise informed Nigerians.

According to JAMB, the result slip does not correspond with its official format.

The Board explained that UTME results are presently accessible only through its authorised result-checking platforms and remain strictly “view-only”, making the presence of a downloadable or printed slip at this stage questionable.

It further noted that the document appears on a fabricated template, which alone undermines its credibility.

JAMB also noted that the registration number on the fake slip does not match its system-generated format, highlighting the unusual “20269” sequence as a clear indicator of falsification.

The Board added that several inconsistencies within the document easily expose it as fraudulent, even on casual review.

It therefore urged the public to disregard the fake result and rely solely on official channels for accurate UTME information.

“All results at the moment are view-only,” the statement stated.
