The Kano State Government has approved the appointment of 19 new permanent secretaries and redeployed 14 serving permanent secretaries across ministries, departments and agencies in the state civil service.

The state Head of Civil Service, Hajiya Bilkisu Shehu-Maimota, announced the development in a statement issued on Tuesday in Kano by the Director of Public Enlightenment, Office of the Head of Civil Service, Rukayya Uba-Sulaiman.

The government said the appointments were targeted at strengthening the civil service and improving efficiency in government operations.

According to the statement, the move followed the recent promotion of some qualified directors to the position of permanent secretaries.

“I have the pleasure to convey the approval of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, for the appointment/deployment of Permanent Secretaries in the State Civil Service,” the statement read.

The government described the new appointments as a call for greater responsibility and commitment to public service.

“It is hoped that the newly-appointed Permanent Secretaries would ensure discharge of their duties diligently and with competence for the promotion of the lofty goals of the administration,” the statement added.

The redeployment is expected to take immediate effect, with all handing-over and taking-over processes scheduled to be completed on or before Wednesday, August 12, 2026.

The Kano State Government said the changes are part of efforts to improve service delivery and strengthen the machinery of government.
