It added that the crash was reportedly caused by brake failure in the fully loaded tipper truck, resulting in a loss of control. The truck subsequently slid backwards and collided with the vehicle behind it, leading to the fatal incident.

FRSC rescue personnel and other emergency responders took the victims to Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital for medical attention, the statement added.

The Kano Sector Commander, Corps Commander Idris Lawal, expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed for the repose of their souls.

Lawal also cautioned motorists, transport unions, construction companies and fleet operators against neglecting vehicle maintenance, particularly the inspection and servicing of essential components such as brakes and tyres.

He urged drivers to practise defensive driving, maintain safe distances from other vehicles, stay alert to changing road conditions and ensure their vehicles are roadworthy before setting out.

The FRSC reiterated that regular vehicle maintenance, responsible driving and compliance with road safety regulations are crucial to preventing avoidable crashes and saving lives.

It urged all road users to prioritise their safety and that of others by observing safe driving practices and keeping their vehicles in good mechanical condition.
