Manchester United centre-back Harry Maguire will be unavailable for the club’s upcoming Premier League fixture against Chelsea following an additional one-match suspension.

The 33-year-old defender was penalised for his conduct toward officials after receiving a red card during a match against Bournemouth last month.

The Football Association confirmed on Wednesday that Maguire admitted to using abusive and insulting language toward the fourth official, resulting in an extended ban and a £30,000 fine.

The timing of the suspension significantly complicates matters for United, as the veteran centre-back already missed the recent home defeat to Leeds.

Maguire’s absence leaves a gaping hole in the squad’s backline during a critical stretch of the season.

With the club currently sitting in third place, the coaching staff must now navigate a high-stakes away game without one of their most experienced defensive leaders.

The defensive crisis is further deepened by the absence of other key players, including Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martinez.

With multiple veteran centre-backs sidelined due to injuries and disciplinary actions, caretaker manager Michael Carrick may be forced to rely on young talent like Ayden Heaven and Leny Yoro.

As the team looks to maintain its lead over Chelsea in the standings, this makeshift defence will face a rigorous test at Stamford Bridge.
